본 개정판은 초판에 기초하여 최근 연구결과들을 반영해 집필하였으며, 교사가 교수·학습방법을 계획·전개·평가하는데 도움이 되는 이론적 배경과 구체적인 계획 및 지도방법, 활동의 실제를 다루었다.
본 교재는 1부 교육방법의 이해, 2부 교육공학의 이해로 구성하여 교육방법 및 교육공학에 대한 전문성 향상에 실제적인 도움을 주고자 하였다. 본 교재의 구체적인 구성내용은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 1부 교육방법의 이해에서는 교육방법의 이론적 기초에 대한 내용을 살펴봄으로써 효과적으로 수업을 진행하는 데 필요한 지식과 기술을 다루었다. 각 장의 내용은 다음과 같다. 1장 교육방법의 기초, 2장 교육방법의 역사적 변천, 3장 교수이론의 기초, 4장 학습이론의 기초, 5장 액션러닝을 적용한 교수·학습, 6장 교수설계의 기초, 7장 교수·학습의 전개 등이다.
둘째, 2부 교육공학의 이해에서는 컴퓨터공학 기술의 발전에 따라 교육공학의 동향을 이해하고 그것에 기초하여 교실에서 방법과 공학을 적극적으로 활용하여 효과적이고 효율적인 수업이 가능하도록 하였다. 각 장의 내용은 다음과 같다. 8장 교육공학의 기초, 9장 교수매체, 10장 디지털시대의 학습방법, 11장 원격교육 등이다.
이 책이 교육방법 및 교육공학을 가르치고 공부하는 교수자와 학습자에게 조금이라도 유용한 교재가 되기를 희망한다.
