각 아동복지현장에서 어떤 아동권리 측면을 고려해야 할지, 아동권리를 고려하지 못하게 하는 어려움은 무엇인지를 담고자 하였습니다. 또한 아동복지현장에서 그동안 이루어 온 성취가 이제는 아동권리의 관점을 기반으로 하는 보다 성숙한 성취가 될 수 있는 방안이 무엇인지에 대해 논의하였습니다.
본 책은 이재연 교수와 황옥경 교수가 공동집필한 ‘아동복지에서의 아동권리 발달, 도전, 그리고 진화’라는 장부터 시작합니다. 유엔아동권리협약을 통해 우리나라에 알려지기 시작한 아동권리라는 개념이 현재까지 어떻게 발전하고 변화하였는지 소개하였습니다. 그 다음 장부터는 아동권리 관점이 가장 필요한 현장과 권리의 영역을 하나씩 찾았습니다.
2장 ‘의사결정과정에서의 아동참여’(안동현 교수, 김영지 박사 집필)는 아동에게 가장 허락되지 않는 권리 영역인 참여에 대해 논의하였고, 3장부터 8장까지는 아동 중에서도 가장 사회적 약자에 속하는 아동의 현장을 찾았습니다. 3장(김효진 박사 집필)은 경제적 불평등 상황에 놓여 있는 아동권리, 4장(이호균 고문 집필)은 학대의 위험에 처해 있는 아동의 권리와 이를 위한 현장의 역할을 다뤘습니다. 5장(강현아 교수 집필)은 친 가정에서 자라지 못하는 아동, 6장(장영인 교수 집필)은 다문화 아동의 권리의 소외가 얼마나 심각한지, 현장 및 정책 개선의 필요점을 지적하였습니다. 7장(장영인 교수 집필)은 범법행위로 인해 사법체계에 들어온 아동들의 권리를 보호할 방안을 모색하였습니다. 8장(정선영 교수)은 학교 체계에서 벗어난 아동들의 열악한 권리 현실과 그들의 사회적응을 도울 수 있는 방안을 논의하였습니다. 마지막으로 황옥경 교수가 집필한 9장 ‘아동복지 그리고 다음 세대’에서는 앞서 각 장에서 다룬 현장의 아동권리 현실을 정리하고 앞으로의 과제와 미래에 대한 바람을 제시하여 책을 마무리 지었습니다.
