본서는 총 5부로 나누어 제1부에서는 사회과학통계의 기초, 제2부에서는 SPSS의 기초, 제3부에서는 초급 사회과학통계, 제4부에서는 중급 사회과학통계, 제5부에서는 고급 사회과학통계를 소개하였다. 먼저 제1부에서는 기본 개념, 연구대상, 집중경향치와 변산도, 정규분포와 편포, 변인과 가설, 실험설계와 조사설계 등 사회과학통계를 수행하는 데 가장 기본적인 개념을 다루었다. 제2부에서는 SPSS 소개 및 시작, 자료 입력과 변환, SPSS 출력 결과, 기술통계 등 SPSS를 다루기 위한 기초 기능을 소개하였다. 또한 제3부에서는 빈도분석, 교차분석, t검증, 상관분석, 변량분석 등 초급 사회과학통계 방법을 소개하였다. 제4부에서는 공변량분석, 회귀분석, 신뢰도분석, 탐색적 요인분석, 판별분석, 다중응답분석 등 중급 사회과학통계 방법을 소개하였다. 끝으로 제5부에서는 비모수적 검정, 정준상관분석, 경로분석, 구조방정식모형분석, 확인적 요인분석, 위계적 선형모형분석 등 고급 사회과학통계 방법을 소개하였다. 본서는 인문사회과학을 전공하는 대학생 및 석사, 박사 과정생뿐만 아니라, 인문사회과학 연구를 수행하는 많은 분들에게 도움이 될 것이다.
