    책은 크게 세 부분으로 구성되었다. 먼저, 윤리학 일반 혹은 도덕교육이론에 내재한 정신적 치유와 상담 기능을 발굴해서 정리하였다. 둘째, 보다 구체적으로 동양과 서양의 고대에서 현대에 이르는 윤리학과 도덕교육이론 속에서 윤리상담에 도움을 주는 접근이나 절차, 모형을 구성하여 실제 적용 가능하도록 만들었다. 마지막으로 각 학교 급별 학생을 대상으로 하거나 특정 상담 주제와 관련되어서 요구되는 상담모형을 구안하였다.
