    교육시설은 교육과정의 공간적 물적 요소로서 학습을 성립시기는 결정적인 요소가 되고, 교육의 질을 결정하는 중요한 요인이 되고 있다. 따라서 학교시설을 어떻게 구성하느냐 하는 문제는 학습자로 하여금 학습을 성공적으로 이끌고 소기의 학습효과를 극대화시켜 주는 데 매우 중요한 의미를 갖게 된다. 이 책은 이러한 배경을 바탕으로 한국교육행정학회에서 기획한 교육행정학 전문서의 하나라고 할 수 있다. 이 책은 1995년 출판된 "교육시설행정론"의 개정판이라고 볼 수 있는데, 이 책자에서는 지난 번 책자에서 비중 있게 다루지 않았던 심신장애우를 위한 특수교육시설과 새로운 학교시설 관리방법으로 등장하고 있는 민간위탁형관리방법(BTL) 등을 새로이 포함시켜 다루었다.
