도서소개
대한철학회 학술총서 동양철학 분야의 제1권인 이 책의 주제는 ‘성리학의 한국적 수용과 전개’라는 제목을 통해서 짐작할 수 있듯이, 중국의 성리학이 우리나라에 어떤 과정을 통해 수용되었고, 그렇게 수용된 것이 우리의 내부에서 어떻게 정착되어 발전되었는지, 그리고 그것이 시대적 변화 속에서 어떻게 변모되었는지에 관한 것이다. 한국 사회에 가장 큰 영향력을 행사한 사상은 단연 유가 사상, 특히 그중에서도 성리학이라고 할 수 있다. 조선을 건국한 사대부들이 성리학적 사유를 근간으로 하여 조선을 수립하였고, 성리학적 이념을 바탕으로 조선을 이상적인 국가로 만들고자 했다는 사실을 통해서 이를 확인할 수 있다. 이렇듯 고려 말에 우리 땅으로 들어온 성리학은 600년이 넘는 시간 동안 우리에게 매우 강한 영향력을 행사해왔다.
우리 선조들은 성리학적 질서 속에서 태어나 성장하였으며, 성리학적 텍스트를 읽고 공부하면서 성리학적 이상사회를 만들고자 노력했으며, 성리학적 예법에 따라 생을 마감했다. 이렇듯 성리학은 우리 선조들의 삶과 분리될 수 없을 만큼 깊이 연관되어 있다. 그러므로 성리학적 사유를 이해하지 못하고서는 우리 전통 사회의 온전한 모습과 그 속에 담긴 특성을 이해할 수 없다. 그런데 과거에 대해 정확히 이해하지 못한다면, 현재 발생하는 문제에 대한 정확한 원인 규명이 불가능하고, 현재 발생하는 문제를 적절하게 해결하지 못한다면 더 나은 미래를 기대하기 어렵다. 이러한 이유에서 우리의 전통 사상인 성리학적 사유에 대한 탐구는 반드시 필요하다.

저자소개
김상현 (경북대)
경북대학교 철학과를 졸업하고 같은 학교 대학원에서 동양철학(유가철학)을 전공하여 철학박사 학위를 받았다. 울산대학교 철학과 객원교수를 지냈으며, 현재 경북대학교 철학과 강사로 재직 중이다. 학문적 관심 분야는 유가철학, 성리학, 조선 사회정치사상 방면이다. 『사회정치철학』(한울아카데미, 2004), 『논리 그리고 비판적 사고』(도서출판 글고운, 2019) 등의 (공)저ㆍ역서가 있고, 「퇴계의 향약 분석을 통한 조선시대 자치조직 연구」(『대동철학』 제93집, 2020) 등 여러 편의 논문이 있다.
